1. Information we collect
We collect information you provide when creating a memorial (name, email, deceased's details, photos). Contributors may provide their name, relationship, and video/text tributes. We also collect standard analytics data (page views, device type) to improve our service.
2. How we use your information
Your information is used solely to provide the GatherWords service: creating memorial pages, compiling videos, processing payments, and sending transactional emails. We never sell your personal data to third parties.
3. Video and media storage
Videos, photos, and tribute content are stored securely in Google Cloud Storage with 256-bit encryption at rest. Media is only accessible via private, authenticated URLs. We do not use your media for training AI models or any purpose other than the memorial service.
4. Payment information
Payment processing is handled entirely by Stripe. We never store your card details on our servers. Stripe is PCI DSS Level 1 certified.
5. Data retention
Memorial pages and associated media are retained for as long as your subscription is active. If you cancel, we retain data for 90 days before permanent deletion, giving you time to download your content.
6. Sharing and disclosure
We do not share your personal information with third parties except: (a) service providers who help us operate (Google Cloud, Stripe, SendGrid), (b) when required by law, or (c) with your explicit consent.
7. Your rights
You have the right to access, correct, or delete your personal data at any time. You can request a complete data export or account deletion by contacting us at privacy@gatherwords.com.
8. Cookies
We use essential cookies for authentication and session management. We use Google Analytics with IP anonymisation enabled. You can disable cookies in your browser settings.
9. Children's privacy
Our service is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
10. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes via email. The latest version will always be available on this page.
